Karen Maroda - Enactment Workshop

What Exactly is Enactment and How Can We Best Utilize it?

3-hour workshop
Seminar Description:

If you are not sure exactly what enactment is, you are not alone.  We all feel that we should know, and of course, we have some idea.  Yet the ever-changing definition of enactment, including its clinical applications and place in therapeutic action, has created understandable confusion.  Long accepted as inevitable, questions remain as to what it looks like in the clinical encounter, as well as controversies regarding it potential therapeutic value.  This presentation will provide a brief history of the term enactment from its inception in 1984 to current views. The remaining time will be devoted to clinical examples, teasing out the elements of what is and what is not enactment, as well as what conditions appear to precede it.  Participants are encouraged to bring their own clinical experiences with enactment for discussion.
